Veteran Nollywood actor is Femi Ogunrombi, who played the role of Papa Ajasco in the popular sitcom of the same name, is dead.

A theatre practitioner, Shaibu Husseini, confirmed the death of Ogunrombi, who is popular for his role in Wale Adenuga’s Comedy series.

Husseini confirmed that the seasoned Thespian breathed his last on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

Taking to his social media pages, Husseini wrote: “I have just been reliably informed that the ethnomusicologist, former Music Instructor with the National Troupe Of Nigeria and one time stand in for the ‘Papa Ajasco’ character on the popular WAP Comic Series ‘Papa Ajasco’ Mr. Femi Ogunrombi is DEAD. I am told that the actor, singer, highlifist and trained Nurse whom we fondly called ‘Uncle Ogurombo’ (not to his hearing though) passed on this evening.”

Femi Ogunrombi took over the character, Papa Ajasco when the former character, Abiodun Ayoyinka pulled out of the show and he carried on with the role while it lasted.

Abiodun Ayoyinka, the original Papa Ajasco

Abiodun Ayoyinka, the original actor for Wale Adenuga’s Papa Ajasco series, has cried out on social media after he was mistaken for a stand-in actor who has passed on.

Social media has been inundated with messages of condolence after the death of Femi Ogunrombi, who also played the role of Papa Ajasco, was announced.

Mr Ogunrombi was a stand-in for Papa Ajasco after the thespian pulled out of the movie some years ago.

Due to his resemblance with the original Papa Ajasco, Mr Ogunrombi started answering by the moniker.

This has created confusion as to which of the characters has passed on.

Mr Ayoyinka has brought some clarity to the matter in a short video that has found it’s way to the social media space.

The original Papa Ajasco, whom fans grew up watching is very alive and well, he said in the video.

He, however, expressed thanks to fans whom he said have bombarded his phone with calls to ascertain the news.

      2Face

Nigerian music star, Innocent Idibia, also known as 2face has called on Nigerians to vote wisely and with their conscience as they go into the election season in a few weeks time.

2baba as he loves to be called said Nigerians can’t afford to vote the wrong candidate considering the bad state of the country’s economy and other disturbing indices, stressing that they should resist the politicians who may want to induce them with money.

The African Queen singer insisted that the people have been pushed to the edge and should seize the opportunity before them to do what is right for the country with their voting power.

“Nigerians open your eyes and don’t be fooled this time. The politicians are coming again to fool you with promises that they won’t fulfil. Make the right choice and vote wisely,” he said.

Angel Smith...threatens to take her life

There is panic and reactions following a suicide threat by former BBNaija reality star, Angel Smith.

In a tweet on Thursday, Angel hinted that she is exhausted over the things happening in her life, hence had only one option left.

She wrote: “God, I’m so exhausted, I really just want to jump off a bridge.”

However, Nigerians have expressed worry over her state of mind.

@FataiGrace: “Please don’t take this as a joke. Someone close to her should please cheek up on her.”

@omosexy2010: “Suicidal is not an option darling. Keep pushing. May God crown all our efforts. Amen, everything is going to be alright.”

“Please Don’t try it, Angel. No matter what you are going through put your faith and trust in God, okay i beg @theangeljbsmith,” @Zeezah1222 wrote:

@TNath77: “You’re good, you’re beautiful, you’re loved, you’re enough. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. Good morning @theangeljbsmith If you need to talk to someone, please do. I’ll be praying for you.”

@Lynnth: “Embrace God. Slow down on the fast life. You are just 22.”

In July 2021, during the Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eyes edition, Angel, then 21, revealed that she started battling depression from the tender age of 14 which led her into self-destructive behaviour. She revealed that she was rescued through art and creativity.

She spoke of how she could not cope with her depression and dropped out of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) just two weeks into her first year.

Her words: “I was at UNILAG for two weeks and didn’t go for any lectures, so I dropped out because it was hard for me.

“I was coming from a high school where I was secluded so it was not easy for me.

“I wasn’t into school because I didn’t even know what I wanted to do. So I started self-harming when I was 14 because I was depressed.”

On why she auditioned for the Big Brother Naija show, Angel said: “My mates have graduated now and I guess that is why I auditioned for Big Brother because it felt like everybody had figured out what they wanted to do except me so during the cause of me auditioning and me getting in and me making progress, I moved from a place where I felt I wasn’t sufficient to now feeling…”
